Nowadays,
most mid-size companies, not to mention international firms, has
launched their own official web site to promote their brands and provide
information of their business for their customers, or even potential
customers.
The owner of the web site which I would like to analyze is a company called “Lab Made”( http://www.labmade.com.hk/index.aspx ) as its layout is really fascinating and attractive to me. It is the
first liquid nitrogen ice cream laboratory company introduced and
operated in Hong Kong. “Lab Made” is very popular among people who love
desserts as it is new to the market and triggers people’s curiosity
about it. Therefore, “Lab Made” has so far attracted many die heart
fans.

On
the home page, visitors can see their logo at the top left corner and
it will lead the visitors back to the landing page when clicking on it. A
menu bar is set next to the logo and there are six buttons on it which
are linked to the other web pages of different headings, such as, “Menu”
and “The Science”. The layout is basically very organized, but there is
one defect that can be found on the page. The “Contact Us” button does
not appear at the right position, which is left under the bar. In the
middle area, there is a banner showing photos of their ice-cream and it
changes as time set. With the colorful photos and the vivid effect out
there, it can also attract people to stay at the page longer. The design of different pages is consistent is some senses. As the heading graphics shown on each relative page are all designed in the same pattern. The pattern of it is also very related to science as it actually presents visitors with an element-table-like design, which fits the concept of “Lab Made”. The front colors (mainly brown and blue), font size (14px) and font style (Arial style) used for the content part is also consistent through out the web pages. This gives visitors the impression of completeness and consistency, which also makes them feel comfortable looking at it.
The “Contact Us” page provides convenience for visitors to leave comment and contact information for further catch-up by simply entering the relevant content in the relative blankets and submit. The neat and easy-to-understand layout also encourages visitors to leave comment and enhance interactions between the company and the visitors. This page is basically demonstrating the theory of technological affordances.
